New Orleans Breakers Part Ways GM Matt Boockmeier

Another significant change is coming to the New Orleans Breakers franchise. The team’s General Manager, Matt Boockmeier, announced he’ll be stepping down from his position with the USFL franchise to pursue new opportunities.

This is not the first major change of the USFL offseason for the Breakers, as this news comes after head coach Larry Fedora stepped away and was replaced by head coach John DeFilippo. DeFillippo recently worked at the HUB Football camps as part of their coaching staff. With the recently announced partnership between HUB and the USFL, DeFillippo makes a lot of sense for New Orleans.

Breakers quarterback, Kyle Sloter, will also not return for the 2023 season. After his 2022 preseason stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sloter was no longer tied to his USFL contract. He was recently announced as one of the quarterback assignments for the XFL’s Arlington Renegades.

The New Orleans Breakers still have a lot to figure out before the 2023 season kicks off in April. With how much is changing, It’ll be challenging to build off last season’s success.
