New Orleans Breakers Sign Alabama A&M QB Aqeel Glass

On Tuesday, the USFL’s New Orleans Breakers announced the signing of former Alabama A&M quarterback Aqeel Glass.

The HBCU alumni played 5 seasons at Alabama A&M and appeared in 47 games (41 starts) for the FCS school. In that time, Glass made a name for himself as a pocket passer, completing 923/1,582 passes (58.3% comp) for 12,136 yards, 109 touchdowns, and 41 interceptions.

Glass earned several awards during his collegiate career, including 2x Deacon Jones Trophy (2020, 2021), 2x SWAC Offensive Player of the Year (2020, 2021), 2x First-Team All-SWAC (2020. 2021), and 2x Second-Team All-SWAC (2018, 2019). Additionally, He received invites to the HBCU Legacy Bowl and NFLPA Collegiate Bowl after his senior year in 2022.

Most recently, Glass held a brief stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during their 2022 rookie minicamp and was known to be on the XFL’s radar. He now joins the USFL’s New Orleans Breakers ahead of their 2023 season, kicking off in April.
