Panthers Wide Receiver D.J. Montgomery Signs with Colts

Another Michigan Panther is off to the NFL. After working out for the Indianapolis Colts, Montgomery was offered an NFL opportunity, and now rejoins Indy in hopes of extending his NFL career. Montgomery returns to Indianapolis after spending time with the team during training camp of 2022.

Montgomery was signed by the Panthers on June 1st and did not appear in a game for Michigan. A well-traveled WR out of Austin Peay, Montgomery on the Houston Texans’ practice squad last season after spending time with the Colts during 2022 training camp. Montgomery spent time on the New York Jets’ active roster and practice squad in 2021 and appeared in three games catching three passes for 36 yards. As a rookie in 2019, he spent the entire season on the Cleveland Browns’ Injured Reserve list.

Other Panthers on the Move:

Stevie Scott was resigned by the Arizona Cardinals, while Tino Ellis was reverted to injured reserve after being waived with injury designation.

Montgomery joins Deshaun White, and Eight other Michigan Panthers who have earned NFL contracts. Currently only Trey Quinn has been waived, with Stevie Scott being resigned by the Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers roster now sits at 50 players moving forward into the offseason.
