Showboats and Panthers Make a Trade, Showboats also Add KU Guard Malik Clark

The Memphis Showboats continue to bolster their offensive this week by adding University of Kansas Guard Malik Clark and trading for former Fresno State Offensive Lineman Syrus Tuitele. The Panthers accepted former Eastern Washington Wide Receiver Talolo Limu-Jones a former teammate of current Panthers Quarterback Eric Barriere.

Clark joins the Showboats by way of KU. A versatile Offensive Lineman in college, Clark 40 games over six college seasons going back to 2016. The 6’3 323 LB New Orleans Native anchored a KU Offense that prompted running back Pooka Williams to two 1,000-yard seasons. Despite a successful college career, Clark went undrafted and would remain unsigned despite an invitation to Kansas City Chiefs Mini-Camp.

Tuitele comes into his second year in the USFL after being signed in the beginning of 2022 by the Michigan Panthers. After being waived by the Bills in August of 2021, Tuitele remained under the NFL radar before being picked up by the Panthers. Despite being inactive in seven games Tuitele managed to dress for three games in the 2022 season. Tuitele comes to the USFL by way of Fresno State after starting 26 games over four seasons.

While the Showboats added to the trenches, the Micighan Panthers added another skill player, Talolo Limu-Jones earned All-American honors at Eastern Washington. Most recently Limu-Jones spent some time with the Carolina Panthers before being released in June. Limu-Jones spent time with2nd year Panthers QB Eric Barriere in college where Limu-Jones recorded 160 receptions for 2,707 yards and 21 touchdowns.

While the Panthers may be hinting at their moves at Quarterback, the Showboats made it clear that they intend to continue to build in the trenches. As with all the recent transactions many of these rosters may be completely different in the next couple weeks due to release of many USFL player from their contract 12/31. Ultimately for all USFL teams it’s crucial that they continue to build their teams to the best of their ability prior to the start of training camp 2023.
