Showboats’ Nehemiah Shelton Joins New York Jets

The 3rd Showboats player has departed to the NFL. The Showboats are seeing their 2023 7th Round Pick Nehemiah Shelton earn his first NFL contract. Shelton will be signing with the New York Jets, and now becomes the 3rd Showboat to be “shipped off” to the NFL.

Shelton joins the Jets, after working out for New York on August 7th. After being drafted in the USFL’s 2023 Rookie Draft in February, Shelton would sign with the team on May 23rd. On June 2nd Shelton was activated by Memphis and would appear 3 games (1 start), totaling three tackles for the Showboats in his first pro season.

Per Fox Sports, the Showboats roster currently sits at 58 players as the NFL preseason and USFL Offseason continues to progress. With several players continuing to work out for NFL teams, look for the Memphis Showboats in 2024 to continue to retool in hopes of making a playoff push for the first time in since the USFL has returned.
