In a clash of USFL powerhouses, the Birmingham Stallions emerged victorious over the Michigan Panthers with a final score of 27-13. The win brings the Stallions’ record to a strong 4-2 for the season, while the Panthers fall to a 2-4 record.
Quarterback Alex McGough led the Stallions with an impressive performance, completing 19 of his 24 passes for 133 yards and throwing two touchdown passes. He also showed his versatility on the ground with 11 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown. The Stallions’ rushing attack was further bolstered by running back CJ Marable, who had a solid game with 100 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Receiving options Zaquandre White and Jace Sternberger also contributed to the Stallions’ strong offensive display. White had two receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown, while Sternberger had three catches for 21 yards.
On the Panthers’ side, quarterback Josh Love completed 20 of his 34 pass attempts for 222 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Trey Quinn was the standout for the Panthers’ receiving corps, hauling in seven receptions for a game-high 108 yards.
Despite the loss, the Panthers showed some solid defense. Defensive tackles Dondrea Tillman and Willie Yarbary each recorded a sack, while cornerback Nate Brooks led the team with three tackles. The Stallions’ defense also stepped up, with defensive tackles Khalil Davis and Nate Holley each registering three tackles.
The Stallions’ special teams unit also played a critical role in the win. Kicker Brandon Aubrey went 3-for-3 on field goals, successfully converting from 1-19 yards, 20-29 yards, and 40-49 yards.
The Stallions and the Panthers will both look to build on their performances as they move forward in the season. The Stallions have proven themselves to be a team to watch in the USFL, and the Panthers will be looking to get back on track after this setback.
