Breakers Bolster The Trenches With Two New Additions

The USFL announced two new signings for the New Orleans Breakers on Saturday morning, offensive tackle Tyler Roemer and outside linebacker Jordan Brailford.

With the number of changes New Orleans has dealt with this offseason, the updated staff, led by general manager Ryan Jones and head coach John DiFilippo, have had their hands full. However, since taking over the team near the end of 2022, they’ve been making a number of significant moves in hopes of another playoff berth.

Today’s moves continue that trend, adding two more players with pro experience that will likely step in and contribute immediately.

OLB/DE – Jordan Brailford – 6’3″

College Experience: Oklahoma State (2014 – 2018)

College Accolades: Second-Team All-Big 12 (Coaches and A.P.) (2017), First-Team All-Big 12 (Coaches) (2018), Second-Team All-Big 12 (Associated Press) (2018), Team Captain as voted by teammates (2018), Leslie O’Neal Award (OSU’s outstanding defensive player) (2018)

Pro Experience: Washington Commanders (2019 – 2020), Minnesota Vikings (2020 – 2021), Atlanta Falcons (2022)

Jordan Brailford was drafted by the Washington Commanders in the 7th round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, he’d spend most of his time with the team on the practice squad.

The Minnesota Vikings signed Brailford off the Commanders’ practice squad, and he made his first regular-season NFL appearance in Week 13 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’d appear in 5 total games with the Vikings in 2020, with the highlight being a forced fumble and fumble recovery on quarterback Mike Glennon. Brailford stayed with the Vikings into the beginning of the following season, but he was waived by Minnesota in mid-August 2021.

His most recent NFL stop was with the Atlanta Falcons, who signed Brailford to their practice squad in December 2021. At the end of the season, he signed a reserve/futures deal with the team but was released near the end of October 2022.

OT – Tyler Roemer – 6’7″

College Experience: San Diego State (2016 – 2018)

College Accolades: USA Today Freshman All-American (2017), Second-Team All-Mountain West (Coaches and A.P.) (2017), Third-Team All-Mountain West (Phil Steele Magazine) (2017), Offensive Lineman of the Year (2017), Preseason First-Team All-Mountain West (A.P.) (2018),

Pro Experience: Oakland Raiders (2019), Los Angeles Wildcats (XFL, 2020), TSL Blues (2021), Montreal Alouettes (2022)

After redshirting his 2016 season, Tyler Roemer played for two seasons at San Diego State University. He’d start the first 23 games of his collegiate career before getting suspended against Fresno State for violating team rules, keeping him out for the rest of the 2018 season.

After the 2019 NFL Draft, Roemer signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent, appearing in all 4 of their preseason games. Unfortunately, he’d be waived at the teams’ final roster cuts.

Following his time with the Raiders, Roemer signed with the XFL’s Los Angeles Wildcats for the 2020 season. His contract was terminated when the league shut down due to the covid-19 pandemic.

In 2021, Roemer spent time with The Spring League’s Blues before his most recent stop with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes for the 2022 season.
