E.J. Perry Joins Jaguars Hours After Signing with Michigan Panthers

It must of been a wild week for E.J. Perry. After working out with Patriots and not earning a contract, Perry signed decided to rejoin the Michigan Panthers most likely setting up for a QB battle between himself and Carson Strong for the 2024 season. Well hours after the Panthers announced his signing Perry would find himself in familiar territory getting signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars early on Tuesday morning.

Perry returns to the Jaguars after his 2022 stint with the team. Despite being released in favor of then Breakers QB Kyle Sloter, Perry was resigned on August 9th 2022, and would ultimately spend 2022 on their practice squad. Perry would be waived in March of 2023 by the Jaguars only to be claimed by the Texans who released him in May.

Perry would sign with the Panthers on May 30th, joining Josh Love and Brian Lewerke after an injury to Carson Strong along with Eric Barriere getting waived. Perry would be thrust into action in Week 10 leading Michigan to playoff berth with a victory over the Philadelphia Stars. Perry would put together a heroic performance against the Pittsburgh Maulers only to fall short in overtime.

The Panthers currently roster Carson Strong and Brian Lewerke now on their roster going into the USFL-XFL merger in 2024. With Josh Love still a free agent and on the CFL’s negotiation list the Panthers could be in the market to add another QB before the season. Last season Michigan went 4-6 with a playoff berth in Head Coach Mike Nolan’s first year with the team. For more insight on the USFL-XFL Merger check out the video below.
