Former Generals QB Ben Holmes Signs with Vienna Vikings of ELF

The Tarleton State QB Continues his Football journey this time crossing the pond and heading to Europe. Holmes who has been spent the past several years making a tour of the Canadian Football League looks to Europe now to solidify his role as a starting QB.

As many know Holmes was originally supposed to be QB1 in “New Jersey” for Mike Riley and the Generals. However, an unfortunate toe injury saw Holmes on Injured Reserve and made way for Alt-Football favorite Luis Perez. Moving forward it seems it worked out pretty well for all parties in the 2022 Generals QB room. Holmes won a Grey Cup in 2022, Perez won an XFL Championship in 2023, and DeAndre Johnson has become a key piece in “New Jersey” as QB1 over the last two seasons.

With his tour in the ELF, Holmes now joins his 6th team, in his 4th league with Vienna. While Holmes’ football journey has been less than linear, when it’s all said and done the experiences attained from all across the globe is more than anyone could have expected from a Division-II QB out of Texas.
