Panthers Add Two Weapons to Bolster Offense

Steve Kazor has been on a role this off-season and might have made a major under the radar signing with his past two signings. The Michigan Panthers decided to keep it in the family by signing Wide Receiver Samson Nacua, long with a speedster at Running Back in Raymond Calais.

Calais comes to Michigan after coming out of the University of Louisiana as a 7th Round Pick in 2020. The Louisiana native has spent time with Bucs, Rams, DC Defenders (XFL 3.0) and BC Lions (CFL), before trying his hand with the Michigan Panthers for the 2024 season. Calais has appeared in 4 NFL games in 2020 with the Rams and did earn a Super Bowl Ring with the team as a member of their practice squad in 2021. Calais also appeared in one game with the Defenders in 2023, recording 1 carry for -4 yards.

The Panthers also signed Safety Kai Nacua’s Brother Samson. The Nacua family which has grown into football royalty over the past several weeks, will now be host to both Kai Nacua and his brother Wide Receiver Samson Nacua out of BYU both employed by the USFL’s Michigan Panthers. Samson was a UDFA out of BYU in 2022 spending training camp with the Colts catching passes from XFL Quarterback Jack Coan. He’d appear in Two games with the Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023, and now looks to be a part of the Panther offense that is without Joe Walker, Trey Quinn, Kaden Davis, and D.J. Montgomery.

Currently the Panthers roster sits at 50 going into Thanksgiving. With the USFL conducting the off-season in a similar manner as 22-23 look for approximately 8 players to be added to round out the roster. Last season Michigan went 4-6 enroute to playoff appearance for the first time since the USFL’s return in 2022.
