Philadelphia Stars Release Injury Report, Darnell Holland Moved to Inactive List
Another day, and another running back down. This time it’s Darnell Holland being transferred to the inactive list but that isn’t the only name missing.
The Philadelphia Stars have announced their injury report for this weekend’s championship game. This team was already down one of the running backs it had drafted to begin the season in Matt Colburn. Now, Darnell Holland, the lightning to Colburn’s thunder has also been transferred to the inactive roster. However, these were not the only players seemingly in line to miss the big game.
Offensive Line is Hurting…Literally
The Offensive line already had offensive tackles Clay LeGault, and Leon Johnson listed on the inactive list. The Stars got some good news and some bad news. We’ll start with the bad. Guard Paul Nosworthy has been transferred to the inactive roster. He will take the spot of offensive tackle Colby Ragland who was brought back onto the active roster for this weekend.
The offensive line isn’t the only position suffering from some injuries. Wide Receiver Brennan Eagles will remain on the inactive list as well. He has yet to log a stat this season, and it looks like it will remain that way. His knee injury simply hasn’t healed enough for him to play.
Running Backs Available
With both Darnell Holland, and Matt Colburn hurt, the workload is going to fall squarely on the shoulders of the fresh legs in the backfield. Dexter Williams, signed just a few days ago to aid the depth in the run game suddenly is in line for significant snaps, with only Paul Terry behind him on the depth chart. Terry was just on the inactive list due to injury so it remains to be seen how healthy he is.
I expect to see Chris Rowland involved in the run game once again. Rowland has been dabbling as a runner all season long, especially in the games when running back depth was a concern. Rowland ended the season with 25 rushing yards overall.
Another player they could get involved in the run game is Maurice Alexander but we have yet to see it this year. It should be interesting to see how the Stars address this.
Defense Not Immune to Injuries Either
The Defense will be without:
CB Bradley Sylve- Will remain on the inactive roster.
CB Marcus Lewis-Downgraded to Out with a head injury
S Evan Worthington-Ruled Out due to a shoulder injury
DT Tony Fair-Remaining on the inactive roster
The Good News Defensively
The Stars Defense will welcome linebackers Te’Von Coney, Avery Roberts, and Josh Banderas back to the lineup. Meanwhile the defensive line will have Freedom Akimoladun available, as well as Mark Barnett. The defense is the unit that really needs to be the clutch performers this weekend if Philadelphia is going to find a win. With that being said there is no better news than the men who WILL be available to the secondary.
While they lost Worthington, and Lewis, they will have USFL 2022 Interception leader Channer Stribling available for the Championship game which is huge news for a secondary suffering from too many injuries.
Special Teams
Kicker/Punter Luis Aguilar has been dealing with a hip injury as of late. He is still a full go for the championship game but it remains to be seen if this is part of what has affected his recent dip in efficiency since his four week run of perfection in the kicking game.
Can the Stars overcome this onslaught of injuries when facing the Stallions this weekend? You’ll have to tune in to find out on Fox Sunday at 5:30 pm MT, 7:30 pm ET
