2022 USFL Seasons Kicks Off this Saturday, April 16 as Birmingham Stallions

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 13, 2022 – The USFL today announced that it will present its inaugural 2022 season in more than 130 countries worldwide, beginning this Saturday, April 16, with the historic kickoff game between the New Jersey Generals and Birmingham Stallions at the state-of-the art Protective Stadium here in Birmingham.

Football fans around the world will have access to a live, 14-game USFL schedule, including both semi-final playoff games and the championship game.

“We’re tremendously proud that the USFL will have broader international distribution right out of the gate than any start-up spring football league in history,” said Edward Hartman, USFL Executive Vice President of Business Operations. “The interest in American football grows the world over each year, and we’re sure the quality of our game and the unique production enhancements our partners are planning will be attractive to sports fans internationally.”

The countries in which USFL games will be available, which is expected to grow, include all North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and all major English-speaking markets featuring Canada, the UK and Ireland, South Africa, and Australia. The USFL is also proud to announce that games will be available through the American Forces Network to U.S. servicemembers stationed around the world.

Domestically NBC Sports Audio on SiriusXM will carry the audio broadcast of each 2022 game presented on NBC, USA Network, and Peacock. In addition, FOX Sports on SiriusXM will carry the audio of all USFL games televised on FOX and FS1.

About the USFL

The United States Football League (USFL) is a new, independent football league that is not affiliated with the defunct 1980s league or its owners. The inaugural USFL season will kick off April 16 with eight teams split into two divisions: the Birmingham Stallions, Houston Gamblers, New Orleans Breakers, and Tampa Bay Bandits in the South Division; and the Michigan Panthers, Pittsburgh Maulers, New Jersey Generals, and Philadelphia Stars in the North Division. Each team will play a 10-game regular-season in Birmingham. Playoff semifinals begin in Canton on June 25 between the top two teams in each division and a championship game on July 3 between division winners. The USFL completed its inaugural Draft on March 10 and players reported to Birmingham training camps on March 22. At the conclusion of training camps, each USFL team will carry a 38-man active roster plus a seven-man practice squad. Players will receive base compensation and are eligible for victory bonuses. NBC Sports and FOX Sports are the League’s official media partners and will broadcast all 43 regular- and postseason games on FOX, FS1, NBC, USA, or Peacock networks.
