Pre-Season 2022 All-USFL Team

It’s officially one day away! On Saturday, all the speculation of all these players we’ve begun to see will now come to fruition. The Stallions and Generals will kick off Saturday at 07:30pm Eastern time for the inaugural 2022 USFL. While USFL News Hub’s Mike Mitchell outlined 25 USFL Players To Watch, I wanted to take to it step further and make our own All-USFL Team. With many of these players lacking professional experience there is a lot of unknowns for all these teams coming into the season.

Offense

QB- Kyle Sloter New Orleans Breakers

Sloter’s NFL preseason stats would make him a Hall of Famer. Sloter has thrown for 1,200 yards 11 Touchdowns and rushed for 1 more. Though he hasn’t appeared in a regular season game Sloter has made the most of his opportunity while playing and looks to be far above his competition right now in the USFL.

RB- Madre London Pittsburgh Maulers

RB- Darius Victor New Jersey Generals

TE- Sal Cannella New Orleans Breakers

WR- Jeff Badet Michigan Panthers

WR-Victor Bolden Jr Birmingham Stallions

OT-Ryan Pope Birmingham Stallions

OT-Calvin Ashley New Jersey Generals

OG-Daishawn Dixon Michigan Panthers

OG- Nico Falah Pittsburgh Maulers

C-Jordan McCray Birmingham Stallions

McCray is a veteran of the AAF and XFL starting in 13 out of 13 possible games. McCray has also appeared in 12 NFL Preseason games with three starts. McCray’s experience and poise put him as a front-runner for one of the top overall players at his position and in the league.

Defense

DL-Devin Bellamy New Orleans Breakers

DL-Jonathan Newsome Birmingham Stallions

DL- Cavon Walker Michigan Panthers

The league leader of sacks in the XFL has transitioned to the USFL. Walker is an absolute stud that can play several positions on the Defensive Line. In a league with so many unknowns Walker’s resume is strong enough to put him in forefront of some of the best USFL players on the Defensive side of the ball. Also, being a USFL 3rd round pick is another solid indicator of how highly he is thought of.

LB- Demarquis Gates Birmingham Stallions

LB- Scooby Wright Birmingham Stallions

LB- Donald Payne Houston Gamblers

CB-Jamar Summers Houston Gamblers

CB- De’Vante Bausby New Jersey Generals

S-Obi Melifonwu Tampa Bay Bandits

Melinfonwu is a Super Bowl champion and a veteran of eight NFL Regular Season games. He’s a Safety that boast great size (6’4) and speed (4.4) and most recently was with the 49ers and Eagles in 2021. Melinfowu’s experience and physical gifts have given him a huge advantage over the current crop of USFL Safeties.

S-Dravon Askew-Henry New Jersey Generals

Special Teams

P-Colby Wadman Birmingham Stallions

K- Austin MacGinnis New Orleans Breakers

MacGinnis is 19-21 on field goals in the AAF and XFL and was nearly the kicker for the champion LA Rams before getting beat out in 2021. MacGinnis enters the USFL as a more coveted and skilled kicker in the league. MacGinnis will be able to provide a strong leg and consistent special teams asset for the Breakers as they bring in an experience pro who is cool under pressure.

LS- Ryan Navarro Philadelphia Stars

Though it may a bit unfair to have a bunch of XFL, NFL and AAF retreads included in our All-USFL Team, there are a lot of unknowns regarding the rookies entering the USFL. As with everything in life especially football there are a lot of surprise stars that will come out of nowhere and most likely make our end of season All-USFL Team. Regardless, everyone here at The USFL News Hub is excited to see football finally come back to the spring this weekend.
