When Does the USFL Start: A Look at the Upcoming Season

The United States Football League (USFL) is a professional football league that has captured the attention of fans and players alike since its announcement in 2021. After a 37-year hiatus, the USFL returned to the field in 2022, much to the excitement of football fans across the country. Now we are gearing up for season two.

So, when does the USFL start, and what can fans expect from the upcoming season?

The USFL Schedule

The USFL has announced that its second season will kick off in the spring of 2023, with a start date of April 15th. The league has also released a 2023 schedule, which includes a total of 10 games for each team.

The regular season will run for 10 weeks, followed by a one-week playoff series, and the championship game is scheduled for July 1th. The USFL has also announced that games will be broadcast on major networks, including FOX and NBC. Tickets are be available for purchase now for single game and season tickets.

Teams and Locations

The USFL has announced that it will launch with a total of eight teams, with four located in the North Division and four in the South Division.

The 2023 USFL season will feature four host cities: Detroit, Memphis, Canton, Ohio and Birmingham, Alabama.

  • The New Jersey Generals and Pittsburgh Maulers will be hosted in Canton, Ohio at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
  • The Birmingham Stallions and New Orleans Breakers will be hosted in Birmingham at Protective Stadium.
  • The Michigan Panthers and Philadelphia Stars will be hosted in Detroit, Michigan at Ford Field.
  • The Memphis Showboats and Houston Gamblers will be hosted in Memphis, Tennessee at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

The USFL championship game will once again be held in Canton, Ohio at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
