Former Michigan Panthers Defensive Lineman Cavon Walker joins XFL Vegas Vipers

Of the many roster moves this off-season, one that surprised fans was the quiet removal of Cavon Walker from the Fox Sports Michigan Panthers roster, with no further news after that. With many USFL players being “released” from their contracts, it appeared that there were a lot of questions regarding the futures of Panthers players like Cam Scarlett, Connor Davis, and many more who were removed around January 5th or so. Well, for Walker his football career seems to have been extended as the 28-Year-Old well-traveled Defensive Lineman was signed by the Vegas Vipers on March 16th.

Walker has been well traveled since coming out of Maryland in 2018. Walker has been apart three NFL franchises, the New York Guardians of 2020, and most recently the Michigan Panthers of the USFL. Walker led the XFL in sacks during their COVID-shortened 2020 season and was named to the 2020 All-XFL team.

For Walker it appears he has another lifeline in his football career. After a disappointing 2022 season with the Panthers, Walker like many Alt-Football players nearing 30, appears to be in the final hour for his professional football career. With the Vegas Viper 0-4 and needing a spark Walker may have an opportunity to create an immediate impact for an XFL team, that’s post-season opportunity may be fading away.
