Frankie “Two Times”, Ginda Earns 2nd DPOW Award in 2023

It came down to wire in the USFL’s Defensive Player of the Week voting, as both Kyahva Tezino and Frank Ginda ultimately lobbied to earn the league’s weekly honor. After a vote that came down to which Tezino edged out Ginda by 0.2 points, the USFL opted to bestow the honor to both players allowing Ginda to earn his second piece of “hardware” from the league the in the 2023 season.

Ginda has been the heart and soul of the Michigan defense this season. The former SJSU LB totaled 18 Tackles, 0.5 Sacks and a Forced Fumble, enroute to his 2nd Defensive Player of the Week honors. Ginda who placed 2nd in tackles last season currently trails Tezino by two tackles with four games remaining in 2023.

Despite Ginda’s heroics the Panthers fell victim to the Birmingham Stallions at Ford Field, this past weekend. While the defense put together another strong performance, offensive woes have been Michigan’s Achilles heel during their four-game losing streak. Regardless, with the leadership and play making ability of Ginda, the Panthers Defense is in good hands to make a playoff push for the last couple weeks of the season.
