The wait is over for Brock Miller. After months and months of workouts the LA Rams and Brock Miller have finally agreed to a practice squad contract. Miller’s practice squad contract makes him the 57th USFL player from the 2022 season to earn an NFL opportunity in the league’s first year back.
Miller had quite the impressive tour around the NFL most recently working out for the Vikings on the 21st of December. Miller this season worked out for 12 NFL teams since the completion of the USFL season as it appears he was on the majority of NFL team’s shortlist. The former New Jersey Generals Punter has worked out or been in camp with 22 of the 32 NFL since becoming a professional in 2016. Miller returns to the Rams after spending 2019 training camp with the LA Franchise.
Miller’s opportunity with the Rams is his 4th NFL contract. Miller spent 2017 on a futures deal with the 49ers, 2018 with two stints on the Giants Practice squad and 2019 with the Rams during training camp. Miller also spent 2020 with the Seattle Dragons punting 23 times for 969 Yards (42.1 Yards) and the 2022 season with the New Jersey Generals punting 31 times for 1,430 yards (46.1 Yards) before going on his infamous NFL workout tour.
While Miller may be known for his impressive resume of workouts, he did go viral at one point for his 85-yard punt, that may have spring boarded his infamy. It was so notable that even USFL “critic” Pat McAfee tweeted out the absolute “nuke” that came off the left leg of Miller.
For Miller he becomes the 57th USFL player to get signed to a NFL contract and the 5th Specialist to join the league. Some good news for Miller the previous 4 specialist have all appeared in an NFL game this year with Tucker Addington being the most recent. Miller’s signing seems long overdue as the 31-year-old has worked out for 11 teams this year, and was constantly on the cusp for an opportunity. Now Miller joins USFL alums Case Cookus, TJ Carter, and Lance Lenoir on the Rams practice for the final two weeks of the season. As of right now there are 22 USFL alumni on NFL payrolls going into Week 17 of the 2022 NFL season.
