With the USFL and XFL in full swing, the Stallions have seen Eight players transition from the USFL to the XFL. With Three players going in the November Draft, Four selected in the supplemental draft, and recently Osirus Mitchell being signed on January 29th, the Stallions have done a great job this offseason, bringing plenty of players with NFL experience in addition to bringing back key players from the 2022 championship season.

Offensive Players to the XFL:
The Stallions saw Ryan Pope, Osirus Mitchell, Jordan McCray, and Cameron Hunt all depart for the XFL over the last several months. Hunt and Mitchell both departed the Stallions after signing NFL contracts, while Jordan McCray and Ryan Pope were both drafted during the XFL’s Supplemental draft. A wildcard Manasseh Bailey who was a 17th round pick of the Stallions was also drafted by the XFL’s DC Defenders only spent a couple weeks with the team and was cut April 22nd during the 2nd week of the USFL season. The loss of Ryan Pope, Cameron Hunt(All-USFL), and Jordan McCray (IFL, NFL, AAF, AFL, USFL) are all major hits to the Offensive Line, especially with Offensive Coach Jonathan Himebauch joining the XFL’s Arlington Renegades. The Stallions also lost Osirus Mitchell, who recorded 23 receptions, 333 Yards and 3 Touchdowns.

Defensive Players to the XFL:
The Stallions saw three of their Defensive Players join the XFL. Headlined by Doug Costin who was recently in camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Stallions also saw Linebackers Terrill Hanks and Aaron Adeoye both join XFL teams. All three players played significant roles with the Stallions in 2022, especially Linebackers, Hanks and Adeoye who filled in when Scooby Wright and Nate Holley were sidelined with injuries. The Stallions recent signings at Defensive Line and Linebacker show the teams priority to replace the departing XFL players with NFL caliber talent ready for opportunity in the USFL.

Closing Thoughts:
Like every position this off-season the Stallions have continued to build and find NFL quality to players, to offset the loss of quality players from the past season. So far 68 players from the USFL have been drafted or signed by XFL teams with 11 players choosing to play in the USFL. With the “football” wars in full effect look for teams of both leagues to continue to build and compete for potential players as both leagues continue to grow.
