Panthers Add Another Receiver, As They Continue to Enhance Offense

One Week after signing Kent State standout Isaiah McKoy Coach Eric Marty gets a new weapon for his offense. This time the Panthers sign Mister “Whop” Philyor from the University of Indiana, in hopes to bolster the USFL’s leading passing attack.

Whop played 38 games at the University of Indiana recording 180 receptions for 2,067 yards and 12 touchdowns. Despite being an All-Big Ten selection, Philyor would go undrafted in 2021 but would sign with the Vikings for the 2021 training camp. Despite a strong training camp, Philyor would be cut in late August only to latch on with their practice squad for approx., 8 weeks.

Upon his release, from the Vikings practice squad, Philyor would find a spot with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers , before getting released prior to the 2022 season. Now in his third attempt of latching on a professional team, Philyor looks to become another weapon for the Panthers.

Philyor is the 3rd Receiver to join Eric Marty’s offense, this off-season, as the unit despite being statistically impressive, did come off as underwhelming at times. Hopefully with the addition of McKoy and Philyor the Panthers look to build on their offensive success from 2022.
