In what was a very close game where the Pittsburgh Maulers led most of the game, it all came down to a last-minute field goal by Mauler’s kicker Ramiz Ahmed that was missed and would send the Stars on their way to a fourth straight win as we get closer and closer to the USFL 2022 Playoffs in less than two weeks.
In a game that saw some pretty unique things, such as a punter and a kicker appearing on the Passing Leaders graphic for the game, a Mauler getting hit so hard he lost a tooth; this game was full of everything under the sun. Which made this Battle of Pennsylvania one for the ages very late into the USFL season; the final result saw the Philadelphia Stars defeat the Pittsburgh Maulers 17-16.
He really just had his teeth knocked out on that massive hit 😱😳

Channing Stribling and the Stars Defense continue to dominate on defense with turnovers
Channing Stribling, who currently leads in the league for Interceptions, comes up big again for the Stars and gets another interception early in the first quarter, leading to the Stars reaching a 47-yard Field Goal. The defense tonight for the Stars came up with four turnovers, two from interceptions and two from fumble recovery; the team also leads the league for most posts scored from turnovers this season, scoring 85 points through week nine.

Kirby Wilson still on the hot seat
After the game, Kirby Wilson started that they came up short and needed one more play, and we didn’t get it. That’s the game of football, but I’m proud of the men and the fight they showed from start to finish. It seemed again there was a conflict between Coach Wilson and his quarterbacks as, during one play, he sent his backup Roland Rivers on the field. There was an issue with the headset and Quarterback helmet for play-calling where Roland called a time-out; Coach Wilson would then put Roland on the bench and put Vad Lee back in. Some other conflicts played out on live television with disagreements with his players. He kept telling them this was professional football but didn’t seem very experienced to anyone. It didn’t seem I firmly believe if Wilson had held Vad Lee in the game the entire time, this team would have possibly won the game and not relied on a last-minute Field Goal that was missed.
WIDE RIGHT

Is their concern for the Stars going into the playoffs?
The question for many is this game with the Maulers should have been a breeze for the Stars, but despite the four turnovers they grabbed, it wasn’t as much as what it could have been, and coming down to a late fourth-quarter missed field goal, one play different and the Maulers could have had this game in the bag. The Philadelphia Stars will end up playing the New Jersey Generals in week ten and then again in the North Division Playoff game on June 25th. The New Jersey Generals are red hot, have been on an eight-game winning streak, and even had a special guest in attendance last night during the game scouting the Stars, that being the New Jersey Generals head coach Mike Riley.
