Showboats Close Out 2023 Signing DE Josiah Bronson

As the year comes to a close the Memphis Showboats made one of their final signings, with the upcoming challenge of a new league on the horizon. On the evening of December 26th, with the Stallions and Gamblers dropping “bombshells” Memphis made an under the radar signing in an effort to enhance their Defensive Front.

Bronson began his college career at Temple but would transfer after Head Coach Matt Rhule left for Baylor. Bronson would then join the University of Washington. While at Washington, Bronson appeared in 22 games recording 42 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, and 3.0 sacks.

As a UDFA in 2021, Bronson has appeared in 8 NFL games registering 12 Tackles and 1 TFL, for the Dolphins, Browns, and Saints. Bronson also had a stint with the Cowboys but was cut prior to the 2022 season. Bronson was released by Miami August 28th after training camp. Recently he had workouts with the Browns and Raiders throughout the 2023 NFL season.

Bronson now joins the Showboats as the team goes into 2024 as apart of the XFL-USFL merger. With Todd Haley out as Showboats Head Coach, John DeFilippo is rumored to take over however, the league has not formally announced the coaching change. Over the past Two seasons the Showboats/Bandits (2022) have went 9-11 missing the playoffs each time since the USFL has comeback.
