Special Teams Locked In: Kyle Kramer and Cole Murphy Set to Return for 2024

The Michigan Panthers have come a long way in the special teams department since the USFL’s return in 2022. Early in September the Panthers decided to bring back the tandem for 2024 after sporting one of the league’s most effective duo’s since teaming up in week 6 of 2022.

Murphy set the league on fire once he signed with Michigan last season. The Syracuse alum earned USFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors Twice (week 6/7) and has went 25/30 on field goals and 22/28 on extra points.

Coming back with Murphy, was his battery mate Kyle Kramer for his 3rd season in professional football. Kramer was a midseason signing by Michigan in 2022 and has punted 55 times for 2,411 yards averaging 43.8 yards per punt.

After the USFL’s October 1st free agency the Panthers roster currently sits at 45 players going into the USFL-XFL merger talks. Currently the Panthers have 2/3 of their 2023 special teams unit secured for 2024 as long snapper Ryan Griffin remains unsigned. With NFL injuries mounting and USFL free agency in full force look for the Panthers to look completely retooled for 2024.
