Former Panthers WR Devin Ross Released by San Antonio Brahmas

A former Panther came across the XFL waiver wire this Sunday. Wide Receiver Devin Ross was released by the Brahmas per XFL Analyst and removed from the Brahmas Roster on the XFL website. Ross was one of 12 Panthers to be signed or drafted by XFL teams for the upcoming 2023 season of the XFL.

Ross was selected by the Brahmas in supplemental draft in January. Ross waited for the 12/31 deadline for some USFL contracts to be completed in hopes of being drafted like many USFL players hoping to join the XFL. A veteran of the HUB workouts Ross was drafted by the Panthers in the inaugural USFL draft and served as the Panthers Number Receiving option behind Lance Lenoir. Ross totaled 28 Receptions for 312 Yards and 1 Touchdown during the 2022 season. With XFL teams beginning to cut players to get down to 51 by the end of this week, Ross could be the first of many USFL players who may be back on the waiver wire.

The USFL has seen 69 players get drafted or sign to XFL rosters over the past couple months. So far Ross becomes the 2nd XFL player after Devin Hafford, who was recently was released and signed by the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts last week. With a couple weeks left in training camp for the XFL and the USFL getting ready to start their training camp in March, it’s only a matter of time before Ross finds himself on another roster for a team that needs a sure handed versatile veteran receiver.
