Panthers Release Tight End Kyle Markway After One Season

The Panthers conducted their first “release” of the 2023/24 off-season by waiving TE Kyle Markway after One season with the team. The South Carolina Alum was originally signed by the Birmingham Stallions only to be traded to the Michigan Panthers two days later after joining the USFL.

Markway spent Five seasons at South Carolina before beginning his pro career. The St. Louis Native would then sign as a UDFA in 2020 with the New York Giants before spending time with the Steelers, Browns, and Rams earning a Super Bowl Ring with LA as a member of their practice squad. After getting released by LA in August of 2022, Markway signed with the USFL (Birmingham Stallions) in December of 2022 only to be traded to the Michigan Panthers appearing in two games for Mike Nolan’s team. Markway per Spotrac has earned $120,000 as a member of the NFL.

The release of Markway now leaves Three Tight Ends on the Panthers roster going into 2024. With Markway released and Marcus Baugh choosing to sign with the “New Orleans” Breakers, it does appear that Eric Marty will be relaying on Cole Hikutini along with 2023 Draft Pick Gunnar Oakes. Currently the Panthers roster sits at 48 players moving forward in the 2023/24 Offseason.
