Panthers Sign NAIA Alum and 2023 9th Round Pick Chim Okorafor

Despite talks of a merger with the XFL, it was business as usual for the front office staffs of the USFL. The Michigan Panthers continued to remain active this week by signing One of their Ten 2023 Draft Picks Chim Okorafor, an NAIA Alum from Benedictine College in Kansas.

It’s been a busy year of Okorafor since the Offensive Tackle began his pro football journey. After being selected by the Michigan Panthers in the 9th round of the 2023 USFL Draft, Okorafor has found himself bouncing around the NFL waiver-wire since May as an UDFA. Okorafor has had stints with the Eagles, and Vikings, in addition to participating in multiple NFL workouts during his Pro Career. Ironically, Okorafor was waived by the Vikings in favor of former Panthers DB Jameson Houston on August 25th.

Okorafor becomes the 6th Panthers 2023 Draft Pick, to join Michigan since the draft took place. Okorafor joins, DeShaun White, Jarrett Horst, and Gunnar Oakes on the 23-24 offseason roster, while Levi Bell (practice squad with Seattle), and Santrell Latham have been released from their USFL contracts. Currently the Panthers roster sits at 53 as USFL Free Agency begins in October.
