This past Monday, the Baltimore Ravens hosted Pittsburgh Maulers Quarterback Vad Lee and Wide Receiver Bailey Gaither for a workout. This morning, the Baltimore Ravens have signed the stand-out wide receiver Bailey Gaither to a contract. It remains to be seen if the Ravens end up signing Vad Lee or not at this point, but he would bring a great addition to Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.
Bailey Gaither will be an excellent addition to the wide receiver group in Baltimore if he gets the opportunity; at this time, it is unknown what his contract is, but he will be working hard to make the 53-man roster for the season. Gaither was last in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers before retiring from the league; a few months later, Bailey got drafted in the 2022 USFL Draft in the 14th round to the Pittsburgh Maulers.
Bailey picked up 24 receptions for 328 yards with 4 touchdowns. While the Pittsburgh Maulers may have struggled throughout the season and only won the game, many players still shined and made an impression around the football world. Bailey played with San Jose State Spartans in college in the FBS, where he played in 44 games, with 135 receptions with 2,227 yards, and 18 touchdowns.
Walk-off win against the Gamblers
Week five of the USFL season had Vad Lee throwing a walk-off touchdown pass to Bailey Gaither to win the only game the Maulers would win in the 2022 season. These two were unstoppable; it appears that Lamar Jackson has a very similar style to Vad Lee, and that is where Bailey could shine with the Ravens if he got the chance.
NFL Teams Signing USFL Players Fast and Furious
In the past week, the USFL has been front and center to the NFL as many players are joining NFL teams; Bailey Gaither is not the only Mauler who has signed with an NFL team. On July 19th, the New England Patriots signed Pittsburgh Maulers Defensive Lineman Jeremiah Pharms Jr, and then a few days later, on July 22nd, the Los Angeles Chargers signed Outside Linebacker Carlo Kemp to their roster. If this indicates the future, we could easily see more Maulers move on from the USFL and head into the NFL.
