Second Chance: Stevie Scott Signs with NFL Team For the Second Year in a Row

It’s a familiar spot for Stevie Scott to be once again. After the USFL season Stevie Scott participated in several workouts only to once again find his way back on an NFL roster once August rolled around. After a devasting injury to NFL veteran Marlon Mack the Arizona Cardinals signed the USFL veteran for his 4th opportunity in the “league”.

Scott has had two cups of tea with the Denver Broncos in 2021 and 2022, in between his time with the Michigan Panthers. Over two seasons with the Panthers, Scott has rushed for over 600 yards, while adding 147 through the air, accounting for 4 Touchdowns. Scott also spent Three months with the Saints in 2021 as a UDFA out of Indiana.

The Panthers Running Back room now hosts Reggie Corbin, 2023 Rookie Toa Taua, and WR/RB hybrid A.J. Richardson. Scott becomes the 5th Panther to earn an NFL opportunity and is one of 24 USFL to be released from their teams in pursuit of their NFL dreams. Currently the Panthers roster sits at 55 players with more USFL players earning NFL opportunities each day.

The NFL remains committed to teams that have a home. Maybe this is the NFL’s way of reminding the USFL that real teams have a home and fans. I really feel the league can only do what it can, but it really seems they should try to get more teams in their homes.
