Upon waking I did my quick review of the football leagues and in it, I noticed an article that hit me. An original USFLer, Zenon Andrusyshyn has passed away at 76. Like Matt Mengal and Luis Aguilar he handled both kicking and punting duties and was good enough to do both for all 3 years for a good Bandits team. He had many more seasons in the CFL and I believe he has some NFL experience as well. It’s funny the Bandits were a very noteworthy team. From their owners Bassett, Reynolds and Company to their Head Ball Coach Steve Spurrier and his partner in crime QB John Reaves. at running backs Gary Anderson yes of NFL fame and their short, but not small Greg Boone who I believe each ran for a 1000 yards in the same season. If. not it was close….to E.T., Willie Gillespie, Larry Brodsky NFL vet Danny Buggs and don’t forget the always open on 3rd down Marvin Harvey. Zenon Andrusyshyn was a full time member of Bandit Ball helping Steve Spurrier mastercraft every drive knowing it would end with a Zenon Andrusyshyn escape plan. Rest in Peace, Zenon.
