After the Showboats added seven players on the 13th of December, the team once again added another pass rusher to their motley crew. This week the Showboats added Drew Jordan a defensive lineman who comes from Duke/Michigan State.
Jordan is a defensive lineman who appeared in 58 games in college. Despite being a full-time starter at Duke, Jordan was a rotational lineman during his final collegiate season at Michigan State. During his collegiate career Jordan totaled 120 tackles with 11.5 Sacks after five seasons in school. Despite not putting up jaw dropping numbers during his career, Jordan would sign as a UDFA in June with the Carolina Panthers.
Jordan appeared in 3 games during the 2022 for Carolina preseason. Over his preseason audition Jordan totaled 6 tackles and 1 sack however, would still be a part of the final cuts and not make the team. Jordan would join the Panthers practice for a week however was cut prior to the Carolina’s week one game vs the Browns.
With the addition of Jordan the Showboats gain a young energetic pass rusher, who appears to keep developing at the professional level. Jordan’s size and fringe NFL ability definitely make him an asset for Memphis moving forward. A Native of Georgia Jordan is regionally local to Memphis and could help the Showboats drum up some fan interest by bringing friends and family to the stadium as well. With many USFL players looking to opt out of their contracts post 12/31, look for the Showboats roster to continue to change as move forward in the off-season.
