Staying Put: WR Trey Quinn Earns NFL Contract from Detroit Lions

After recently working out with the Chicago Bears, Trey Quinn decided that Ford Field fit him best in his return to the NFL. On July 27th the Panthers announced Quinn’s contract was terminated, and the former Mr. Irrelevant found himself joining the Detroit Lions, his 5th NFL team.

Quinn was an immediate contributor for the Panthers in 2023, cementing himself as one of the USFL’s most consistent and efficient Receivers, becoming a security blanket for Panthers Quarterbacks. Quinn was deadly being able to attack the seams of opposing Defenses, while also being able to play both the inside and outside Receiver positions while totaling 37 Receptions, 438 Receiving Yards and 4 TDs with Michigan.

Quinn now joins his 5th NFL team since starting his pro career in 2018. A veteran of 16 NFL games, Quinn becomes 4th Panther to sign with an NFL team since the end of the 2023 USFL season. As of right now the Panthers Roster sits at 55 with Michigan facing a clear deficit with the losses of Kaden Davis, and now Quinn. As NFL training camp continues to progress, and USFL players continue to work out for NFL teams, the Panthers may a whole new team for 2024.
