Week One did not go well for the Panthers on the field and off the field. While there were many things to get excited about the Panthers may have gotten an extra bit of unwanted attention due to a fight between Cavon Walker and Tik Tok Star Chase DeMoor.
The Panthers opened the season with a pretty pitiful 1st half showing against the Houston Gamblers during their week one debut. But despite some poor play on the field more people were more curious about the interactions between DeMoor and Walker.
DeMoor may be one to garner more attention to himself than he would like. The Panthers Defensive End comes by way of the 2021 Spring League, may be more know for his Social Media and Reality TV antics than unfortunately his play on the football field.
On Saturday he didn’t really create much of an impact on the field and often times look as he playing too high against the Gamblers Offensive line. Overall, he finished Sunday with One tackle, and was more know for his scuffle with Walker and his “eccentric” back plate than his play on the field.
Cavon Walker may be the exact opposite of DeMoor appearance wise and has a decent amount of pro experience. The 6’2 280 LB defensive lineman, has been in three NFL camps, and was the XFL’s sack leader in 2020 for the New York Guardians. On Sunday, he also had Five tackles including Two stuffs on 3rd down.
Ultimately, it did seem like the scuffle between Walker and DeMoor motivated the Defense overall as the Panthers did allow only ten points total, including a shutout in the second half. Either way, let’s hope that this weekend against the New Jersey Generals DeMoor and Walker are hitting Luis Perez and De’Andre Johnson rather then each other.
