Showboats Resign CB Nehemiah Shelton After Stint with NY Jets

Nehemiah Shelton is back in Memphis for the foreseeable future. The Showboats Defensive Back returns to the USFL after joining the NY Jets for several weeks on their practice squad. Shelton earned $48,000 with New York after being released on October 3rd, in favor of another USFL alumnus Tae Hayes.

Shelton was the 1st Showboats draft pick from the 2023 USFL Draft to sign with Memphis in 2023. The San Jose State Alum appeared in Three games for Memphis Starting One and recording Three Tackles. He now returns to the USFL with the opportunity to compete with Delrick Abrams, and Quenton Meeks for starting position in 2024.

Currently the Showboats roster sits at 47 Players per Fox Sports. With the USFL and XFL currently under merger discussions both leagues continue to operate business as usual until told otherwise. Last season Memphis went 5-5 missing the playoffs, under 2nd year Head Coach Todd Haley.
