Showboats See Punter Brandon Wright, Spend a Week with LA Rams

The NFL is a high turnover business and often can be extremely cruel. Brandon Wright found out once again in his professional career how true this is. After being signed by the LA Rams (for the second time in his career) on September 12th, Wright once again found himself released on September 19th.

Wright has been with the Showboats since 2022, when the team was originally the Tampa Bay Bandits. Wright earned All-USFL honors in 2022, and re-signed with Memphis on August 22nd, before making a cameo appearance with the Rams this past week. A UDFA out of Georgia State in 2020, Wright has had stints with the Jaguars and Rams appearing in One NFL game while earning $109,203 in his NFL career.

Wright became the 4th Showboats player to earn an NFL contract during the 2023 USFL off-season, joining Nehemiah Shelton as the only Memphis players to spend time on an NFL roster during the 2023 NFL season. With Wright now a “free agent” the Showboats roster now sits at 58 players as the USFL off-season continues among “merger” talks.
