USFL 2022: Pittsburgh Maulers Regular Season Schedule Breakdown

The 2022 USFL schedule has been released for their inaugural season and on Saturday, April 16th they will go live with kick-off at 7:30 PM EST between the New Jersey Generals and the Birmingham Stallions on FOX, NBC, and Peacock Steaming App.

Pittsburgh kicks off their season against the Tampa Bay Bandits on Sunday, April 17th at 8:00 PM EST, the last of the kick-off weekend’s slate of games. They will go on to play a 10-game season throughout the spring.

Ticket prices for the games will be family-friendly with adult admission for regular-season games priced at $10.00 and children three and under are free.

While the exact dates and times have not been released the full 10-game season schedule of opponents has been released. Not only that, but one ticket gets you admission to every game played on that date. One ticket, and up to three games, for $10.00.

The Pittsburgh Maulers schedule will be as follows.

  • Week 1: vs. Bandits
  • Week 2: at Stars
  • Week 3: at Panthers
  • Week 4: vs. Generals
  • Week 5: at Houston Gamblers
  • Week 6: at New Orleans Breakers
  • Week 7: vs. Birmingham Stallions
  • Week 8: at Generals
  • Week 9: vs. Stars
  • Week 10: vs. Panthers

The opening game pits The Maulers vs The Bandits in the final match-up of the opening weekend. The Bandits have drafted one of the best rosters in the USFL based on players’ prior statistics. One of these players to be on the lookout for is Jordan Ta’amu who previously led the XFL St. Louis Battlehawks to a winning record before COVID-19 ended the season. However, The Maulers used a lot of early draft picks on pass-rushing defensive players, so this looks to be a showdown between Ta’Amu and The Mauler’s D-Line.

The other game the steel city will be looking forward to is the battle of the keystone state in week 2 when the Pittsburgh Maulers and the Philadelphia Stars will throw down for the title of the best team in Pennsylvania. Based on the Eagle’s and Steeler’s fanbases rivalry in the NFL this is going to be a game with more on the line than just a W. The Maulers will need to keep a close on the player calling between Star’s Coach Andrus and the Star’s QB squad have been working together long before the USFL.

While the teams are named after the cities they represent, there will be no “Home” games this year. All of the games will be hosted in USFL protected stadium in Birmingham, Alabama.

The North Division, Pittsburgh’s division, is comprised of Michigan, New Jersey, and Philadelphia which they will face off against twice each season. There is also a South Divison with Birmingham, Houston, New Orleans, and Tampa Bay.

During their season in 1984, the Maulers played at Three Rivers Stadium and achieved a record of 3-15. Owners of the team closed the doors after the USFL tried to compete directly with the NFL and fall football.
