Showboats OL Damien Mama Signing with XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas

Mama joins the XFL for the second time in his Pro football career. After leaving USC in 2017, Mama spent time with the Chiefs, Giants, and Cowboys before joining the AAF’s San Diego Fleet in 2019. Upon the AAF’s folding, Mama spent time with the New York Guardians and Jousters of The Spring League in 2021.

Mama would be drafted in the 23rd Round of the 2022 USFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Bandits. He’d be a part of a unit that would see Jordan Ta’amu lead the league in Passing yards and TDs. However, the unit also led the USFL in Sacks allowed and Sack yards lost.

Currently the Showboats have completely re-tooled their Offensive Line with only All-USFL Jarron Jones being the returning Lineman from the 2022 season. Mama becomes the 63rd USFL player to either be drafted or signed by the XFL with 11 players choosing to sign or remain with USFL. to Currently the Showboats roster sits at 61 players on the pre-season roster.
