A day after Cole Kelley announced he was signed with the Showboats, Memphis trimmed their roster by two. The Memphis Showboats recently released Alt-Football Kicker Tyler Rausa out of Boise State and Guy Myers QB out of Charleston College. Currently the Showboats now have zero true kickers and now have only Brady White with Cole Kelley in the QB room.
Myers originally came to the USFL by way of Free Agency to the New Jersey Generals, after becoming an UDFA in the NFL 2022 Draft. Originally covered by Mike Mitchell of USFL News Hub, Mitchell described Myers as a “late bloomer with a strong arm” mimicking the skillset of De’Andre Johnson. Despite being with the Generals for the back end of the season, Myers did not appear in any games for the Generals and allocated to the Bandits/Showboats in 2022-23 offseason. Myers brother D.J., was signed by the Bandits/Showboats in September prior to the name/relocation change, after an exceptional Arena League career.
The Showboats also released Alt-League Veteran Kicker Tyler Rausa who has spent time with the XFL 2.0’s DC Defenders in addition to his time with the Bandits/Showboats last year. Rausa was 9/14 on field goals and 15/16 on extra points. In his Alt-League career Rausa is 18/26 on field goals for a career pct of 69%.
After the addition of Kelley the Showboats roster will sit at 61. With Rausa being released the team may turn to All-USFL Punter Brandon Wright whose kicked in the NFL and College however owns a 59.3% FG Pct while at Georgia State. With training camp set for mid-March look for the Showboats to continue to retool the roster with another kicker and maybe another quarterback in preparation for their return to Memphis.

I don’t really like Ty Rausa being released. I kind of feel he has some potential. Hopefully he will sign on with a team.
